뉴스위크(Newsweek)지 Top 100 Books

지난 번 미국 타임지에 이어 이번에는 뉴스위크지가 선정한 100권의 책들을 알아본다. 뉴스위크지는 타임지와는 다르게 세계의 모든 쟝르(픽션,난픽션)가 대상이다. 하지만 동양의 '마오쩌둥'과 아프리카의 '치누아 아체베'의 책이 각각 한 권씩만 들어가 있는 것으로 볼 때 역시나 서양의 편중된 관점으로 선정된, 객관성이 떨어진다고 보여진다.동서양 그리고 제3세계의 작품들이 적당히 고루 분배가 되었으면 하는 아쉬움이 있다. 그래도 여기에 선정된 책들이 확실히 명저인 것은 부인할 수 없는 사실이다.  

그리고 이 목록이 발표되었을 때 순위 같은 것이 매겨져 있었던 것 같은데 그런 거 무시해도 좋은, 별 의미 없는 순위다. 모두 다 좋은 책들이고 어떤 것이 더 낫다고 평할 수 없는 책들이다.(타임즈 선정 도서와 중복되는 것은 빨간색으로 표시한다.표지는 타임지 목록을 참조)
