12The men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over, ready for battle, in front of the Israelites, as Moses had directed them.

The Lord tells Joshua to have twelve men take twelve stones from the Jordanto set up as a sign to future generations. Joshua sets up twelve stones fromthe middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests stood.
