최근의 뉴베리 수상작들을 보면 꼭 흑인이 주인공이 책들도 한권씩은 아너상에 뽑히는 것 같습니다. 그것이 미국을 구성하고 있는 인종들을 고려할 때 당연한 것이지만 오바마 대통령이 알게 모르게 사회 문화 전반에 미치는 영향력 또한 적지 않음을 느낄 수 있네요.
