Galatians 2:20 NLT
[20] My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - P86

John 6:67 NLT
[67] Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, "Are you also going to leave?" - P87

4Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, "Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him." - P48

6As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!" But Pilate answered, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him." - P48

7The Jewish leaders insisted, "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God." - P48

12From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar."

13When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). - P49

Jesus has far more power than Pilate could ever imagine. Yet Jesus lets Himself be subject to Pilate’s authority so that He can accomplish His mission to set sinners free. - P50

Jesus willingly suffered under Pilate’s unjust judgment because of His great love for His people: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13). - P50

In many parts of the world, Christians face persecution in various forms. But we need not fear because God is in control even of the lives of those who persecute us. No matter what we face, God will help us stand firm. As the psalmist writes, "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?" (Ps. 118:6a) - P50

"If we knew the depths of our sin and the heights of God‘s love for us, we‘d never haveto be afraid of anything."- Marshall Segal - P50

31Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." "But we have no right to execute anyone," they objected. - P44

37"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

38"What is truth?" retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him. - P45

39But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?"

40They shouted back, "No, not him! Give us Barabbas!" Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising. - P45

Pilate and the people care more about their personal agendas than about reaching the truth. - P46

We should remember that Jesus came to testify to the truth and that His followers are those who listen to Him and remain on the side of truth. - P46

I aim for all of my relationships to be selfless ones. I want to be more con-cerned about how I can be a blessing to others rather than how they can bea blessing to me. I remember Jesus who embodied true selflessness whenHe willingly went to the cross out of His love for the Father and His lovefor us.  - P47

I hope we all experience fulfilling and flourishing relationships thatare both grounded in and driven by love. - P47

Father, I praise You for You are the source of all knowledge and truth. When I am driven by worldly or selfish motives, help me remember Your love and grace so that I may testify to the truth and live for Your kingdom. In Your Son’s name, amen. - P47

Romans 8:35 NLT
[35] Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?

- P85

Romans 8:37 NLT
[37] No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- P85

2 Corinthians 6:4 NLT
[4] In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
- P84
