13so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), - P142

20But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband"—

21here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—"may the Lord cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. - P143

27If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.

28If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children. - P145

31The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.’" - P145

God provides instructions for dealing with a woman suspected of adultery. Ifa husband suspects his wife of infidelity but has no proof, he must bring herto the priest, who performs a ritual involving bitter water. If the woman isguilty, she will suffer a curse; if innocent, she will remain unharmed and willbe able to conceive. - P143

This test for an unfaithful wife may offend our modern cultural sensibilities, but the intention behind this guideline is to prevent the husband from assuming the worst about his wife. He is not allowed to make frivolous accusations and take matters into his own hands. He must let go of his feelings of jealousy and submit to the Lord’s protocol. - P146

especially when we feel unloved and suspect we have been betrayed. No matter how we feel, we should not seek revenge since we trust that God is the judge who will rule correctly in His timing. - P146

God will punish. Adultery is serious, impacting our relationship with God as much as with our spouse, and it also defiles the community of faith. - P146

God’s people are to avoid all forms of sexual immorality, and those of us who are married are to be fully dedicated to our spouses, ever seeking to carry out the vows that we made on our wedding day. - P146

Dear Lord, I praise You for You are a God of order and covenant. Teach me to love selflessly and sacrificially and to abide by Your commands. - P147

Whether I am married or single, I commit to being faithful to the covenants I have made before You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. - P147

However, eachof us should always be looking for new opportunities to express our devo-tion to the people we love. Just as we are to put fresh oil in our lamps ofdevotion unto God, let us put fresh oil into our relationships, continuallyshowing how much we love and care for one another. - P147

"Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease or a discharge of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean because of a dead body.

3Send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them."

- P138

5The Lord said to Moses,

6"Say to the Israelites: ‘Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the Lord is guilty - P138

7and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged.

8But if that person has no close relative to whom restitution can be made for the wrong, the restitution belongs to the Lord and must be given to the priest, along with the ram with which atonement is made for the wrongdoer.

- P139

God commands Moses to instruct the Israelites to remove anyone with a skindisease, discharge, or uncleanness from the camp in order to maintain purity. - P139

pHe also addresses restitution for theft: if someone wrongs another, they mustrepay the full value with an additional fifth. The restitution should be given tothe person wronged or their family. - P139

The Lord’s command to send ceremonially unclean people outside the camp is a reflection of His perfect holiness. God desires for His people to be set apart and to seek to live according to His impeccable standard of purity. - P140

our church communities, we can help one another become more like Christ by emphasizing the importance of having a pure heart and dealing swiftly with any sin that rears its ugly head. - P140

Since wrongdoing always has its consequences, we can speak the truth in love when necessary and not allow sinful behaviors to continue. - P140

We can remind one another that, because Jesus paid the full price for our sins, we can go to Him with repentant and humble hearts to receive His grace and restoration. - P140

we should also remember that when we sin against someone, we are ultimately being unfaithful to the Lord. When we do not keep our word, when we mistreat someone or harbor sinful thoughts toward others, we demonstrate that we do not fear the Lord and take obedience to Him lightly. Thus, we ought to repent before God along with confessing our sin to others and making necessary amends. - P140

The system that God establishes here reminds His people of the importance of unity in our communities. Unity is bolstered when God’s people confess their sins and make amends for the wrongs they have done. - P140

Have you been harboring sinful thoughts against anyone? Confess your sins, and ask God to help you love that person better. - P140

No wonder we are exhorted to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2 Cor. 10:5). Such a battle is never-ending and requiresconstant vigilance.  - P141

While this struggle will continue onward, it is good toknow that Christ died for all our sins, including our most hidden thoughts.
- P141

We can start anew, arming our hearts with worship, and asking Him to fillus with His love once again. - P141

Heavenly Father, You are a holy God who does not tolerate wrongdoing. Forgive me for the times I took Your standards lightly, and the times I mistreated others. - P141

Cleanse and strengthen my heart so that I may better love those around me. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P141

42The Merarites were counted by their clans and families.

43All the men from thirty to fifty years of age who came to serve in the work at the tent of meeting,

45This was the total of those in the Merarite clans. Moses and Aaron counted them according to the Lord’s command through Moses. - P135

47All the men from thirty to fifty years of age who came to do the work of serving and carrying the tent of meeting

48numbered 8,580.

49At the Lord’s command through Moses, each was assigned his work and told what to carry. Thus they were counted, as the Lord commanded Moses. - P135

Moses completes the census of the Levite clans, counting the Kohathites,
Gershonites, and Merarites. The Kohathites, responsible for the sacred items ofthe tabernacle, number 2,750; the Gershonites, responsible for the coverings,
number 2,630; and the Merarites, responsible for the structure, number 3,200.
Each clan‘s duties are organized for transporting the tabernacle. - P135

Dismantling, carrying, and setting up the tent are physically demanding tasks, and there are strict rules to be followed throughout the process. The fact that all men between the ages of thirty and fifty are counted tells us that God calls everyone to be trained to handle the work He assigns them, and He desires them to grow in their roles. - P136

Similarly, God calls each of us today to be workers in His kingdom. Though our tasks will require physical, mental, and spiritual training, it is worthwhile to be counted among those who serve in God’s kingdom. - P136

None are excluded from these responsibilities, and all of this is for the benefit of the entire community. In Numbers 3:11–13, God explicitly calls the Levites to be His own. They are set apart for His service. As a result, each one is counted, and none are exempt from fulfilling God’s commands. - P136

Today, we serve as God’s priests in our own communities and society. We are all accounted for before God and committed to His purpose. - P136

May we never forget that each of us is precious in His sight, and let us faithfully carry out the good works He has assigned to us. - P136

Some were thriving, while others faced greaterchallenges. But in all of it, I kept thinking, "God truly works through theobedience and dedication of His missionaries."
- P137

A friend of mine recently told me that his dad, who served as a missionary,
While some missionaries retire, others continue theis retiring thisyear.
work God has entrusted to us. Let us remember this and look beyondourselves to see the bigger picture God is painting through His people inthe world. - P137

Heavenly Father, thank you for calling me to be Your own and setting me apart for Your kingdom’s work. - P137

May I be prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for the responsibilities You have entrusted to me, and may You use me to bless the community and society around me. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P137
